S3MC is featured on the newly-launched ISR Data Science Portal, which will serve as a hub for the data science and big data research being conducted at ISR. The site highlights both the Parenting project and the Political Communication project, each of which is illustrative of the trend toward using data science methods to answer social research questions.

The site features additional projects employing cutting-edge methods, including two involving S3MC researcher Josh Pasek. One of these projects, Correspondence Between Social Media and Survey Data Trends Over Time, “examines conditions under which survey data and social media data reveal similar trends over time in estimates of social and political phenomena.” The other project, Automating Analyses of Historical Survey Data on Abortion, “uses textual analysis methods to identify historical survey data measuring attitudes on abortion and combines these measures into a single database.”
